Business Unit Manager – present leadership in a pivotal moment
About Beyond Gravity and the current situation Beyond Gravity is a global player in the space industry, headquartered in Switzerland with operations across Europe and the USA. The company develops and manufactures advanced components for launch vehicles, satellites, and other space systems – often in close collaboration with some of the world’s most technically demanding customers. The Linköping site is one of Beyond Gravity’s most technically advanced operations.
The business is in a dynamic phase of transformation, driven by new global customer relationships and evolving demands. Strategic improvement initiatives are underway to strengthen processes, structures, and delivery performance. With key efforts already launched, the next step requires leadership – to transition from short-term measures to long-term stability and development.
This is not a position for just anyone. But for the right person, it is an opportunity to step into one of the Group’s most critical business roles – and make a real impact.
The assignment – from transformation to future direction As Business Unit Manager, you will hold full operational, financial and organizational responsibility for the Linköping operations. You will join at a point where the turnaround has been initiated but continued progress demands courage, focus, and a strong on-site presence. Your mission is to lead a capable team toward structure, clarity, and sustainable performance.
The objective is to strengthen customer collaboration, stabilize flows, and establish a solid foundation for future growth. Deep expertise and strong commitment already exist within the organization – your role is to harness and channel that potential into tangible results.
For the right individual, the role may grow into a broader leadership mandate within the Group – but it starts with earning trust, both upwards and across the team.
Leadership and your team The role reports to the EVP Launchers. This role is currently filled ad interim (with a separate search ongoing), while also the CEO himself remains closely involved in supporting the Linköping site’s continued development. This reflects both the importance of the assignment and the commitment to enabling long-term stability.
Support is available from both Group Management and a dedicated team on site in Linköping. Expectations are high, and visibility across the organization is significant – this requires a grounded and resilient leadership style, with clear communication and sustained follow-through.
You lead by presence – clarifying responsibilities, setting direction, and following up with both determination and humility. The local leadership team includes eight managers across production, engineering, quality, and support functions – a group with substantial expertise and strong commitment. The team is a mix of long-standing and newly appointed leaders, and your mission is to enable them to succeed together in a demanding but rewarding environment.
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for a confident, present and trust-building leader with the ability to create structure, direction and stability in a complex and demanding environment. You are operationally strong, thrive in close collaboration with the business, and build trust through clarity, respect and results.
You have:
- Solid experience leading industrial manufacturing in international contexts
- Experience from matrix organizations with central decision-making – and know how to implement effectively even with limited formal authority
- Successfully led change – preferably in complex or high-pressure environments
- Proven ability to build strong customer relationships and enable successful collaboration
- Long-standing experience leading other leaders, working with KPIs and balancing people and performance
- Personal maturity, low ego and sound judgement in interactions with diverse stakeholders and leadership styles.
A background in aerospace, space, automotive or other advanced manufacturing is an advantage – as is experience with digital transformation, automation and smart factories.
